Skiing, Steven's Pass

Ditch Day

Brandon at Steven's PassYesterday, was so much fun. Tammy, Brad, and I took the day off to go skiing... well, Tammy and I did. Brad's team had a morale event at Steven's Pass, and we decided to tag along.

I guess when taking a day off of work, it's usually called vacation. I take vacation so rarely, that it felt more like skipping out of work. It's quite a difference from high school.

During high school, I had perfect attendance. Achieving that record took a great deal effort. During junior year, several people had it out for me and tried to keep me from arriving to class on time. I always succeeded to escape. At other Brad at Steven's Passteams, the weather from El NiƱo flooded the surrounding rivers blocking most of the roads to school. Still, I managed to get there.

My tendency towards exemplary attendance certainly wasn't the case before eighth grade. Bridge to TerabitheaOn days that I had a test, I pretended to be ill and convinced my mom to let me stay home. Normally, I'd spend the day watching daytime television, consisting mostly of I Love Lucy reruns. I had to make up tests, but still I at least had a day's reprieve.

In fifth grade, my class was reading Bridge to Terabithea. We had about a month to read the book, but I didn't. On the day I had the final test for the book, I again convinced my mom that I wasn't feeling well, and I used the day to stay home reading the entire book. It was the first time I read an entire book in a single day.

Anyway, it was great spending a day off work with Tammy and Brad. I'm looking forward to another one.
